Have you ever looked at a person for only a second and immediately had a strong reaction? Would you go to a dating site without pictures? Accept a guest into your home without seeing their face? This is your chance to judge a book by its cover and then see if you were right.

There’s a saying that “the eyes are a window to the soul” but Napoleon Bonaparte said that it is “a mistake to say that the face is the mirror of the soul” and that in truth we are “very hard to know”.

Whether we are hard to know or not, we see faces and wonder about their stories. Behind a wise face, is there wisdom? Can eyes “burn with intelligence”? Or are these stereotypes, a simplification of a nuanced thing.

Faces is an app that shows you faces. It tests your power of judgement. Can you tell an inventor from a corrupt politician? A mobster from an opera singer?

You play by answering questions and seeing if you judged right. Your accuracy % will be in the top-left corner. But you can also let your mind weave their story and then, after all the questions are done, read their bio. There’s a short and a long version for each face.
